Authorities were notified Friday around 8 pm of the accident that occurred near Route 269, south of Lévis.

“It was a passerby who discovered the inanimate body of a snowmobiler on a trail, a few kilometers from Route 269 in Saint-Gilles, in Lotbinière,” said Sgt. Béatrice Dorsainville, a spokesperson for the SQ.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not immediately disclosed.

“Elements found at the scene suggest that the snowmobiler could have collided with a moose,” Dorsainville said.
