Quebec has simply launched an “vaccination lottery” with costs of as much as $ 1 million
Quebec really, really wants you to get vaccinated, and as of today, the province announced the creation of cash rewards to encourage everyone in the province to get a vaccination. Lottery participants can register whether they are receiving their first dose or second dose, or whether they have already received their doses.
There are two vaccine competitions, one for adults and one for people ages 12-17. The grand prize is $ 1 million (non-taxable) and there are other secondary cash prizes as well. The winners will be announced every Friday in August. The names of the winners will be announced on the Tuesday following the drawing at 1:00 p.m. EST.
In the last drawing on September 3rd, the names of the winners will be announced on the same day.
This morning Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé was accompanied by Treasury Secretary Eric Girard at a press conference on Quebec’s vaccination campaign. If the idea suddenly strikes some, it should be noted that Prime Minister François Legault had the idea circulated a month ago and several other Canadian provinces have used lotteries to motivate Quebecers to take a chance.
“We looked at all of the other lotteries in Canada, and that’s a positive incentive. In a fight like this, every vaccinated counts,” said Eric Girard during the lunchtime conference on Friday.
For teenagers between 12 and 17 years:
From August 1st through August 27th, the vaccine contest features a weekly run of two $ 10,000 grants from registrants who have received a first dose, totaling $ 80,000.
On September 3, 2021, sixteen grants of $ 20,000 each, valued at a total of $ 320,000, will be drawn among those ages 12 to 17 who have received their two cans. The first dose must be received before August 3rd and the second dose before August 31st, inclusive.
For adults (from 18 years):
From August 1 to August 27, the vaccine contest offers $ 150,000 in prizes for registrants who have received an initial dose of vaccine. The total value of these prizes is $ 600,000.
On September 3, 2021, a prize money of US $ 1 million will be raffled among the registrants who have received their two cans. The first dose must be received before August 3rd and the second dose before August 31st, inclusive.
