‘Montreal will at all times be in my coronary heart,’ Weber says to Canadiens followers

In a message posted on the Habs’ website and social media, Weber took a moment to acknowledge his time as a Canadien. “Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined playing for let alone being named captain of the Montreal Canadiens,” Weber’s message says. “Pulling on that legendary jersey every night was one of the greatest honours of my career and it’s something I appreciated every chance I got.

“I want to thank my teammates, coaches, trainers, management, the entire organization, Geoff Molson and the Molson family, the Montreal media, and most of all, the fans for embracing me and my family and for making the city feel like a second home.”

The 36-year-old defenceman played five seasons with the club after being traded for P.K. Subban. Weber did not suit up for a game during the 2021-22 campaign due to various nagging injuries, although he played a pivotal role in the Canadiens’ improbable trip to the Stanley Cup final last summer.
