Miracle Montreal Meals Drive this Saturday March 13th | Metropolis information

If you are able to serve those in need then tick Saturday March 13th on your calendar as the second Miracle Montreal Food Drive is taking place.

It is a contactless event that takes place across the island of Montreal, including the South Shore, Laval, and the West Island. Participants are asked to leave non-perishable goods on their veranda until 10 a.m. on Saturday.

“When Montreal, North Shore and South Shore came together for the first Miracle event last September, 2,000 volunteers were on hand to collect more than 25,000 kg of donations that were distributed to 200 families and 100 beneficiary organizations,” said Donna Varrica of Miracle Montreal.

The food collected will benefit the food banks in the region, which have recorded an increased need since the beginning of the pandemic and the subsequent quarantine.

The non-profit agency is also looking for volunteers “from all over the region, in every district, to collect, sort and deliver things to the people and organizations who need them most. Be a captain, a team leader, a driver. “

“Volunteering does not endanger anyone; all public health precautions are taken. Nobody is asked to ring the doorbell or knock on doors, ”said Varrica. “Social distancing and the wearing of masks will be mandatory at every step of the process from start to finish.”
