6 Locations to Volunteer This Montreal Vacation Season

Do something good this Christmas by volunteering to spend your time with one of the city’s many charities.

Whether you’re hosting a toy drive, fundraising, or serving food in a soup kitchen, there are plenty of ways to get involved here in Montreal.

Check out these six places to volunteer while on vacation in Montreal.

On rocks

Help pack Christmas baskets with On Rock Community Services. Every year they send over hundreds of vacation baskets to families in need across Montreal. Volunteer to fill baskets with food for a traditional Christmas and gifts for children and adults.

West Island Mission

While you can donate cash or long-life groceries, there is no better way to get involved with the West Island Mission than by volunteering. Around the holidays, they are looking for volunteers to organize food drives in their neighborhood and help with packing and handing out Christmas baskets.

Every year this church in Verdun ships over 500 boxes to 250 families in Montreal. In preparation for the delivery in mid-December, the parish of St. Willibrord is asking for volunteers to help fill the baskets and boxes for the driver fleet.

Old brewer’s mission

With two locations in Old Port and Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Old Brewery Mission is one of the most popular aid centers providing food and shelter to those in need. The holidays are a particularly busy time, so lend a hand whenever possible. Your volunteer needs range from serving meals in the kitchen to tutoring children.

Volunteers are welcome all year round; However, at Christmas time, the Montreal Women’s Center has food and toy promotions and needs help sorting and packing.

Sun Youth sends out Christmas baskets for Christmas and Hanukkah each year and needs a team of volunteers to help prepare the baskets and deliver them to families across town. After all, they provide baskets for over 12,000 people and even guarantee every child under the age of 12 a new toy or game.
